Lansford police, assisted by Coaldale, Summit Hill and Weatherly law enforcement, made a major heroin bust late Friday into early Saturday morning.

Lansford Officer Chris Ondrus said the department is releasing few details at this point, pending the ongoing investigation. However, one person has been arrested and jailed.

Ondrus said that a controlled buy took place, and police subsequently performed a vehicle stop in the 700 block of E. Patterson Street. As a result, police took a large amount of heroin off the street, he said.

"This was a major arrest," he said. "I have to thank the three officers involved, Detective Jack Soberick, Officer Jeff Ohl and Officer Joshua Tom."
