Two Monroe men facing sex counts

Two Monroe County men have been jailed and are facing numerous counts of sexual assault involving young girls in separate incidents.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said James Francis Elliott Jr., 25, of Tobyhanna, was arrested on Monday, Aug. 8, on charges of criminal attempt to commit rape, unlawful contact with a minor, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, corruption of minors, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.The victim of the alleged assault is a 17-year-old female and the incident occurrerd in Tobyhanna. Elliott was arraigned before District Judge Anthony Fluegel, of Mt. Pocono, and committed to the county prison in Snydersville in lieu of $50,000 bail. A preliminary hearing in the matter is set for Aug. 19.Police said on July 29 they arrested Francis A. Oberer, 30, of Tobyhanna, on charges of terroristic threats, indecent assault and corruption of minors. He was arraigned before District Judge Brian R. Germano, of Marshalls Creek, with bail set at $5,000, which he was unable to post.A preliminary hearing was held on Aug. 5 before DJ Fluegel. At that time police amended the complaint and added charges of statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor and aggravated indecent assault. His bail was then increased to $15,000 and he remains jail.Police said the victim in the threats case is a 14-year-old female and the victim of the statutory sexual assault is a 15-year-old female.Police said the investigation in this case is continuing with possibly more victims.
