The Tamaqua Seniors met Aug. 4 at the Tamaqua Community Center with 86 members in attendance.
President Jean Machamer conducted the business session and read the secretary's report. Rose Valle provided the invocation, entitled "Whose Flowers Are These." Vice President Doris Brobst announced Dolores Boyle and Jean Yanick were added to the sick list. Dolores Walck provided the treasurer's report.
Plans were finalized for an Aug. 16 day trip to Pottsville to tour the Yuengling Brewery. A discussion took place on trips to the Sands Casino on Aug. 31 and Red Lobster or the Olive Garden on Sept. 12.
The group meets every Thursday, at 1 p.m., at the community center. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join. Every meeting is followed by social and pinochle games.
The Tamaqua Blue Raider Cross Country Boosters will meet Aug. 17, at 6:30 p.m., on the steps of the Tamaqua Senior High School.
A picnic for team members, grades 7-12, and their families, will be held Aug. 7 at Lake Hauto.

Class of 1957
The Tamaqua High School Class of 1957 will meet Aug. 20 at the home of John and Betty Lezousky, Schnecksville.
Classmates will meet at 1 p.m. to begin planning a 55-year anniversary reunion, which will be held in 2012.
All members of the class are welcome to attend.

SS. Peter and Paul
The Feast of the Assumption will be observed Aug. 15 in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Masses will be at 8 a.m., 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
The parish Holy Name Society will meet today, at 8 p.m. and host its annual picnic this Sunday at the Normal Square Grove.
St. Peter's Union
The Rev. Cheryl Moore will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. The service will include a Joyous Noise Offering. Summer Sunday school will be held at 9:15 a.m.
