Don't put away those beachballs, sunscreen or swimming trunks just yet.

Despite the cooler weather, the list of activities are about to heat up at the Palmerton Memorial Pool in the weeks ahead.

This Sunday will feature the annual Old-timers Day event, complete with a DJ with oldies music. There will also be hot dogs and birch beer, games for adults, a candy scramble for children, and free watermelon slices later on in the afternoon.

But, that isn't all. On Sunday, Aug. 21, Carnival Day - the final special event day of the season - will include a dunk tank, pony rides, a moon bounce and funnel cake.

All special event days are sponsored by Pool Pals of Palmerton Memorial Park, said Susie Arner, president of Pool Pals of Palmerton.

The pool is open from noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10-8 on Saturday, and 1-8 on Sunday, weather permitting.
