Volunteers upset about signs

Members of the Tamaqua Volunteers group are upset over people's lack of community pride. Members of the group routinely travel the streets removing old abandoned signs from street poles and such. Borough Manager Kevin Steigerwalt stated, "Residents are allowed to temporarily place signs or posters on telephone poles with tape or string as long as they remove them within two days after the event." Any signs or posters not taken down after the posted event will be removed and the event holder will be fined. Volunteers added, "The tape is almost impossible to get off without causing damage to the newly painted poles." Pictured is one of a dozen old sale signs that still remain after someone carelessly placed them on Tamaqua's new black poles at the Depot Square Park.
