Pleasant Valley picked up Mountain Valley Conference wins in baseball and softball, while Tamaqua picked up a big softball win on diamond on Tuesday.

BASEBALL

PM West-Pleasant Valley

Pleasant Valley's Russell Baldino pitched a four-inning no-hitter, as the Bears posted a 15-0 Mountain Valley Conference victory over Pocono Mountain West.

Baldino struck out four, while issuing just one walk.

The Bears scored 12 runs in the third inning and were led at the plate by Derrick Walling. Walling accounted for two hits, one home run, three runs scored, four RBI and two stolen bases.

Rob Getz added two runs and two RBI in the winning effort.

Lehighton-ES South

J.T. Hartman and Dan Feza combined to pitch a one-hitter as the Cavaliers upset Lehighton 9-1 in Mountain Valley Conference baseball.

Lehighton's only hit was a bunt single by Jagger Zigenfus in the seventh inning. The Indians (6-2,3-1) committed five errors including four in East Stroudsburg South's four-run sixth inning.

The victory improves the Cavaliers' record to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in the MVC.

Minersville-Panther Valley

After a big of a Schuylkill League Division I slugfest, which included five homeruns, it was Minersville walking off the diamond with a 10-8 win over Panther Valley.

The Miners' Cole Weachock delivered a solo homerun in the first inning and then later followed with a three-run in the seventh, while teammate Aaron Fritz drilled a grand slam in the second inning.

The Panthers' Zach Stanko started the home run derby with a two-run blast in the bottom of the first, while Stephen Gulla added another grand slam in the fifth.

The Panthers' David Marouchoc chipped in with two singles.

Panther Valley slipped to 2-6 overall on the season.

Pen Argyl survived an upset bid by the Blue Bombers behind the complete game, 10 strikeout effort by Dylan Evans.

Palmerton pitchers Ryan Saylor and Christian Marcin surrendered just one hit in the game. That came after five walks and a hit batsman in the three-run first inning. Travis Labyack drove in two runs for Palmerton. Evans had the only hit for Pen Argyl, whose winning run scored in the sixth on a fielder's choice.

Tamaqua scored in every inning and pounded out a 17-1 Schuylkill League victory over Jim Thorpe.

Jordan Nowacki led Tamaqua with four hits, including a grand slam in the top of the third inning. Krissy Bates and Ashley Sotak added two singles apiece for the Lady Raiders. Sotak also picked up the win, striking out seven.

Jim Thorpe was plagued by eight errors in the game. Jocelyn DeMarco had two of the Lady Olympians' four hits.

Pleasant Valley made short work of Pocono Mountain West with a three-inning 16-0 MVC victory.

The Bears scored eight runs in the first and second innings. Kasey Meckes tallied three hits, three runs and two RBI. Rachel Sisco added two hits and two runs.

Pocono Mountain West committed nine errors in just two innings.

Pleasant Valley's Rikki Correll didn't allow a hit, while striking out six batters in the win.

A Megan James three-run homer highlighted a seven run second inning as the Blue Devils downed Panther Valley 17-7 in six innings.

Ali Dagilus ripped two doubles, scored four runs and drove in three for Shenandoah.

Sam Zlock had two hits and drove in four runs for the Lady Panthers. Kristyn Gates, Krista Knepper, and Georgi Butler also had two hits for Panther Valley.

Katie Rinfret led the Bombers' attack with two goals and an assist, while Alex Paulinho added two goals.

The Bombers' Lauren David chipped in with a goal and assist, while Sarah Graver, Kylee Turko, Elizabeth Hahn, Morgan Myers, Sara Andrews and Shana Ahner all recorded single scores.

Kelsey Eaton and Ashley Plocinik split time in front of the Bombers' net to share the shutout victory.

Palmerton moves to 3-6 overall on the season.
