Ryan's Oil & Heating (formerly Service Electric) claimed its second consecutive Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission (ESRC) Winter Basketball League championship with a convincing 63-43 victory over R.R. Frey Services on Wednesday evening at the Tamaqua Area Athletic Center. Ryan's Oil & Heating also capped off its second straight undefeated season (10-0) and are a perfect 20-0 over the last two seasons.

Ryan's Oil & Heating set the tone of the game by racing out to a 24-9 lead. R.R. Frey Services eventually rallied to cut the deficit to 33-31 early in the second half. However, Ryan's gained the momentum right back by ending the game on a 30-12 run, including a 16-for-17 effort from the free-throw line in the second half.Ryan's placed four players in double figures with Jon Scheuer leading the way with 16 points and four three-pointers. Jeff Peel added four treys and tacked on 15 points. Kieran Conway (11 points) and Shawn Tray (10 points) also factored in the winning effort.For R.R. Frey Services, Ryan Achenbach scored 11 points and Jim Barron chipped in with 10.Ryan's Oil and Heating outrebounded R.R. Frey Services 27-22.Jon Scheuer captured League MVP honors for Ryan's Oil & Heating. Scheuer averaged 15.14 points per game in the regular season, but led his team with 33 points in two playoff games, including an impressive 7-for-10 performanced behind the three-point arc.R.R.
