A Weatherly man was killed in a one-vehicle crash on Saturday evening and his female teenage passenger was injured.
State police at Hazleton identified the victim as George M. Galada, 51, of Jefferson Street. Troopers said Galada was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.
A 16-year-old female passenger, reportedly one of Galada's daughters, was trapped in the Mercedes-Benz car and was freed by Weatherly fire personnel. She was taken to the Geisinger-Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, for treatment of what troopers said were moderate injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.
According to troopers Galada was southbound on SR93 in Packer Township about 7:20 p.m. when the car went off the road on the west side, hit a grassy hill and then rolled over several times. The car came to rest in the southbound lane facing east.
Galada was found about 30 feet from the vehicle. He was transported to the Hazleton General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by Weatherly police.
