The 14th annual Earth Day weekend celebration will be held in Jim Thorpe on April 16 and 17, beginning at 11 a.m.

The two-day festival will consist of live entertainment, environmental information, arts and craft vendors, children's activities, a community clean-up and traditional and ethnic foods.

"Information alley" will provide the public with environmental awareness brochures and information on going green at home and in the community. Kid's Corner will host games, crafts, rock climbing, contests, workshops and other events for the children. Woodsy the Owl and Smokey Bear will also make an appearance.

In addition to various activities taking place in the borough, there will be a food drive for Strangers Helping Strangers.

Entertainment in the Josiah White Park will be held throughout the days on Saturday and Sunday. Vendors and live music will also be at the Mauch Chunk opera house and Dimmick Memorial Library.
