The Lehighton Band's Spring Concert will be held Sunday, April 10, in the auditorium of the Lehighton Area Middle School beginning at 2:30 p.m.
The director of the band, Paul R. Smith, has announced the soloists for the program.
Lora Krum and Beth Cressley will play a novelty number called "The Elephant And The Fly." As you might expect, you will hear two instruments that are completely opposits in musical range. Cressley will portray the elephant on her bassoon while Krum will play the fly on her piccolo.
Both of these women are long-time members of the band and have soloed many times.
The second soloist is Joseph Plechavy III singing George and Ira Gershwin's "But Not For Me." He is first trombonist but steps out of the section to sing this beautiful number. He is also a veteran performer having soloed with the Lehighton Band as well as the Big Band Ambassadors.
Among other selections are the Latin tune, "Blue Mist," the lively "Jamaican Sailaway," and "Ashokan Farewell," a beautiful slow number.
Rounding out the program will be the beautiful and inspiring "America, The Beautiful" as arranged by Carman Dragon.
The concert is open to the public and there is no admission charge however a free-will offering will be accepted.
