Drivers facing DUI after crashes

Two drivers are facing charges of driving under the influence (DUI) following crashes.

State police at Lehighton said Michael Keiper, 34, of Kresgeville, was driving a 1991 Dodge Spirit northbound on SR209 in Polk Township, Monroe County, about 3:08 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, while Edwin Rivera, 56, of Sparta, N.J., was operating a 2006 Freightliner truck tractor southbound.Troopers said Keiper's car crossed the center line and struck the left rear tire of the rig.No one was injured with damages severe to the Spirit and minor to the rig.Troopers said Keiper was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest for DUI. The DUI charge is pending.Troopers said about 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 27, Geoffrey Slade Martin, 27, of Saylorsburg, was involved in a crash along SR33, in Hamilton Township, Monroe County, and was found to be under the influence. The DUI charge is pending.
