Early morning crashes probed

Two early morning crashes were reported in Schuylkill County on Tuesday, Sept. 28.

At 1 a.m. Miguel A. Gonzalez, 50, of Glenolden, Delaware County, was drivng a 2002 Mack truck northbound on Interstate 81 in Frailey Township when, for unknown reasons, traveled off onto the west berm and across the median and into the southbound lanes. The truck then traveled over an embankment in the area of an old rest stop where it came to rest.Gonzalez was not injured but the truck had to be towed from the scene. Troopers said Gonzalez was cited for careless driving.At 1:20 a.m. Kevin Cannon, 28, of Ringtown, was driving a 2008 Subaru Impreza northbound on Brandonville Road (SR4037), in Union Township, when he failed to negotiate a left curve in the road. The car traveled off the road and impacted with a garage located at 339 Brandonville Rd.Upon impact with the garage the car and garage caught fire. The owner of the garage was identified as Virginia Heppe, Ringtown. The garage was empty at the time. Damages were termed heavy to the vehicle.Cannon said he swerved to avoid a deer on the road, troopers said.He was not injured. He will be cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
