Hometown Fire Company responded to a call of heavy smoke coming from a large unoccupied commercial warehouse located adjacent to the UPS building and across the street from Silberline Manufacturing in Hometown late Saturday afternoon.

When firefighters arrived the entire outside right side of the structure and ground, which stretched almost an entire block, was dispersing small fires and very heavy smoke.

Scrap metal, tar, and other scattered debris reportedly caught fire as an unidentified worker was removing metal with heavy equipment and blowtorch

Firefighters contained the large stretch of small fires and large smoke that spread the entire length of the building and checked inside the warehouse for possible hot spots.

Hometown fire police controlled traffic around the area for the duration. No one was injured.
