The GFWC Western Pocono Women's Club would like to extend a sincere thank you to the West End and surrounding communities for another successful year at its food stand at the West End Fair. All the money raised at the fair is returned to the community. The ladies worked very hard at their only fundraiser, the West End Fair. Monies earned will be donated to many local groups. Recipients are, but not limited to, the following: Western Pocono Community Library, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Equilibrium, Women's Resources, Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, local fire companies, local food banks, West End Ambulance Association, Chemical Free Graduation Party, Easter food baskets, Salvation Army, Angel's Closet, and Operation Touch of Home.
The club also sponsors scholarships for two high school seniors.
Perhaps, you have seen the plants on the island between Rts. 115 and 209. Their members maintain that area.
New members are always welcome. GFWC Western Pocono Women's Club meets on the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Effort United Methodist Church in Effort during the months of March through December.
For more information, please visit their web site at www.westernpoconowomensclub.org or email at firstname.lastname@example.org . The Sept. 20 meeting will have Helen Barosky speak about Identity Fraud. Please consider joining them at 7 p.m. for an informative evening.
