The Tamaqua Senior Citizens group met last week with 72 members in attendance. President Jean Machamer conducted the business session and provided readings. One new member, Mae McKeever, was welcomed.
Eleanor Roberts offered the invocation, entitled "Someone There." Reports were provided by secretary Eleanor Schmerfeld and vice president Doris Brobst. Cards were received from Jean Machamer and the family of Tom Dally. The membership total has reached 117.
Officers for 2011 were elected and will be installed the first meeting of January 2011. Officers will be: Jean Machamer, president; Doris Brobst, vice president; Joanne Herring, secretary; Dolores Walck, treasurer. August and September birthdays will be celebrated at the Sept. 30 meeting.
Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join the senior's group.
Bloodmobile
An American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be held Sept. 22, from 1 to 6 p.m., in the social hall of St. John United Church of Christ. The church is located at the intersection of Pine and Biddle Streets in Tamaqua.
Anyone 17 or older, who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in generally good health is eligible to donate.
This visit is being sponsored by the Alpha Theta Masters Sorority.
