For Joanna Rice, opening up her own beauty shop gives her the freedom to set her own hours and own her own business.
Rice became the owner of JJ's Hair and Tanning, 41 E. Patterson St., Lansford, in December and since then she has been happily meeting new people and building her clientele.
"Every week I have new people come and they are coming back, so they must like what I'm doing," said the personable Rice. She admits she loves people and making them feel comfortable by being friendly.
Rice offers basic hair care and manicures. She does cuts, shampoos, color, perms and highlighting. She invites women, men and children to stop by. Her prices are reasonable. She offers customers the option to make an appointment or to walk in without an appointment.
