Zoostock, one of the top local fundraising events of the year for the Carbon/Tamaqua Unit of the American Cancer Society, features eight bands this year.
The event, which is free, will be held at the Sports Zoo grounds in Lansford from noon to 8 p.m. Monday.
This is the 12th year for Zoostock. Last year the event raised $23,000 for the ACS, with Zoo owner Jesse Hiles adding an additional $2,500.
"We're hoping for great weather and that the people again support this worthwhile event," said Lisa Hiles, a ZooStock coordinator as she was unpacking the special tee shirts available at the event.
The tee shirts, different ones each year, have become a novelty items for collectors.
Inside the Sports Zoo, there were patrons wearing the shirts from 2006 to 2009.
The entertainment for the event includes:
Ÿ Asking Andy.
Ÿ Story of Another.
Ÿ Brad and Luke and the Jersey Cartwrights.
Ÿ Cody Scott.
Ÿ Colin Jones.
Ÿ Kathy Rimm.
The performers donate their time for ZooStock.
"It's food and fun for the whole family," said Lisa, noting that people of all ages can attend.
