Kids party

The Halloween party for the children of Nesquehoning will be held on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. at the Nesquehoning Recreation Center. Only those who have preregistered and are 10 years of age and under will be able to attend.

Trick or treat

Trick or Treat night will be held in Nesquehoning on Sunday, Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m. Extra police will be on duty and fire trucks will be out. If you plan to welcome the costumed children, please have your porch lights on.

Woman's club

The Nesquehoning Woman's Club will meet Monday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Judy Moon, president, will conduct the meeting.

Ukrainian Dancers will be the entertainment. Serving on the hospitality committee are Ursula Digilio chairperson, Mary Arieta, Phyllis Novotny, Gloria Shubeck, and Rose Walck.

Trick-or-Treat Night will be held in town on Sunday, Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m. Residents accepting children into their homes are asked to have their porch and properties well-lighted. Added police patrols have been scheduled in order to help make sure the event is a successful one.

New Sunday worship service

St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 East Abbott St., Lansford, will start Sunday morning worship 15 minutes earlier at 8:45, beginning Oct 31. Come early this week to celebrate Reformation Sunday and next week, Nov. 7, to remember and honor loved ones on All Saints Sunday.

Summit Hill

To plant trees

The Summit Hill Lions Club will meet at 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 30, behind St. Joseph Catholic Church on West Ludlow Street to assist the Summit Hill Shade Tree Commission in the planting of trees.

Legion to meet

The monthly meeting of American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will be held Monday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the post home. Commander W. Kevin O'Donnell will be in charge of the session. A meeting of the Home Association will immediately follow the post's meeting.

Wednesday, Nov. 3: Nursing home services at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's-Miners Memorial, and 1:30 p.m. at MapleShade, Nesquehoning; 6 p.m. choir rehearsal for the Veterans Day Service, which will be held at the 9 a.m. Nov. 7 service.

Gifts for the Samaritan's Purse project will be collected until Nov. 14. The gifts will be packaged by the Youth Group and sent to needy children all over the world.

Harvest Home will begin on Nov. 7 and continue until Nov. 21. Nonperishable food items will be collected for distribution to those in need.
