Last Saturday Penn Kidder PTA's Seventh "Annual Fall Festival" was held at the Penn Kidder Campus of the Jim Thorpe Area School District.
All kinds of ghosts, ghouls, goblins, and other strange creatures invaded the school's gym and cafeteria to enjoy a day of carnival games, costume contests, music, dancing, and food.
There was a Chinese auction which had over 100 items in it including two bicycles and in addition to that, there was also a 50-50 raffle
The event was coordinated by PTA President Cheryl O'Rourke with the help of many different volunteers who handled the games, music, food and Chinese auction including the Student Council and many 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who came to help out.
She noted that the Fall Festival was started to give families in the Penn Kidder area a safe place for all of the children to come out and celebrate Halloween and that there was a very big turnout with a lot of kids attending.
O'Rourke said that they had about 25 carnival games for the kids to play and every child that played a game received a piece of candy each time that they played and, if they won, they received a prize.
Mindy Graver from Penn State Cooperative was there with a "safety wheel" asking the kids questions about safety and donated bike helmets for the winners of the two bicycles awarded at the Chinese auction.
All proceeds from the Fall Festival go back to the students at Penn Kidder through PTA sponsored events and programs.
Among the upcoming PTA sponsored events are a Winterfest where Kindergarten through fourth grade students perform songs that they have learned in music class and on December 10th there will be a talent show for students in grades 5 through 8.
