Penn Forest crash

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a two vehicle crash about 3:45 p.m .on Oct. 20 along SRE903 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. It was one of several crashes probed by troopers.

Troopers said Salvatore Cannarella, 66, of Jim Thorpe, was stopped on 903 due to traffic stopped ahead of him. Damon M. Edwards, 36, also of Jim Thorpe, was behind him and attempted to avoid a collision but could not and his 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe struck the rear of Cannarella's 2007 Ford 5000 truck.Cannarella was injured and taken to the Lehighton hospital by Lehighton ambulance. Troopers cited Edwards for following too closely.A crash was reported about 6:45 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, along SR209, east of Lucy Lane, in Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Robin L. Williams, 48, of Blakeslee, was driving a 2002 Kia Rio southbound in the area of the Towamensing Elementary school when a deer entered the road in front of him. He was unable to stop and struck the deer. Williams was not injured but his vehicle had to be towed from the scene.A crash occurred about 12:10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, along SR115 in Ross Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Vincent P. Rotell, 28, of Catasauqua, was stopped and waiting for traffic in front of him to turn left while Allen D. Predmore, 41, of Wind Gap, was northbound on Old Route 115. As Predmore continued north he did not observe Rotell stopped. The front of Predmore's 2006 Chevrolet Colorado truck hit the rear of Rotell's 2009 Nissan Sentra.Predmore, Rotell and his two passengers were all not injured. Troopers cited Predmore for following too closely.Troopers investigated a hit and run crash that occurred about 2 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, along Fireline Road, at the intersection with E. White St., in Bowmanstown, Carbon County. Troopers said a vehicle was operated west on White and approaching the intersection when the driver failed to negotiate a turn onto Fireline Road. The vehicle struck the left rear corner of a parked 1998 Dodge Dakota. The right front corner of the hit and run car struck the left rear corner bumper of the Dodge. After impact the driver fled the scene.
