Lansford woman facing DUI charge

A warrant has been issued for Alisen Vanger, 21, of 38 Springgarden St., Apt. 3, Lansford. Vanger faces charges from an incident which took place at 1:30 a. m. on July 19 on West Patterson and Dock streets. She is charged with two counts of driving under the influence (DUI), which were filed by Officer Joshua Tom.

Here's what happened, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed with District Judge Casimir Kosciolek, of Lansford:Tom saw a light blue Chevrolet Cavalier traveling west on West Patterson Street. He stopped the car because of a windshield obstruction violation. The driver, he noted, was Vanger, whom he recognized from previous incidents. Tom noticed a small mark on her right arm, just inside the inner arm area, that looked like a fresh track mark. From his training and experience, Tom recognized the mark as common with heroin users. Vanger, he wrote, is being treated for heroin addiction and is attempting recovery. He asked Vanger is she was under the influence of heroin and she said no. However, she did say she takes Suboxone. She told Tom she had taken the last of the Suboxone on July 17.Tom noticed Vanger's pupils were dilated, which he noted is another sign of heroin use. Vanger agreed to take a field sobriety tests but failed. A subsequent urine test showed positive for opiates, specifically morphine, at 5300 ng/ml.
