Heritage center

The Summit Hill Heritage Center, formerly St. Paul United Church of Christ, is in need of several "wish list" items, including: plastic cutting boards (medium size), dish towels, dish cloths, shovels, brooms, a ladder, a mat for the narthex and a computer, printer and copier.

Anyone interested in donating any of these items is asked to contact Deb Ranck, (717) 787-3672.

Presbyterian church

The schedule of services for the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, for Sunday, Oct. 17, is as follows: Junior choir rehearsal, 8:45 a.m.; Sunday school, 9:15 a.m.; worship service, 10:30 a.m.; and Fellowship coffee time, 11:30 a.m., or after the worship service.

The Chancel Choir will rehearse at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20.

OLOF event

The Our Lady of Fatima Sodality of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will hold its annual Mass and breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 17. The women will celebrate the anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima during the 9 a.m. Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, after which they will attend breakfast as a group in the church hall.

Shade Tree Commission

The Summit Hill Shade Tree Commission will conduct its annual fall street planting on Oct. 28-29. Any resident or business who would like a tree planted in front of their property can contact Lou Vermillion, (570) 645-9772, or John Kupec, 645-9644. Trees will be ordered in the near future. Volunteers to help with the plantings, watering and care of the trees are welcome.

Absentee voting

Borough residents who desire to vote by absentee ballot in the upcoming General Election can do so by applying for a ballot. There are two acceptable reasons for requesting an absentee ballot: out of the county and medical conditions that prohibit persons from going to the polls.

Scripture sharing

The weekly scripture sharing sessions sponsored by St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will be held tonight at 7 o'clock in the church rectory.
