Heavy rains that extended all day Thursday into the morning hours today, may have eased drought conditions in the area, but it sure played havoc with motorists who traveled area roads. Many roads were closed due to flooding from high volumes of water in low lying areas. In the top photo, Lauchnor Road in East Penn Township was closed to traffic just south of State Route 895. The waters of the Lizard Creek overflowed its banks flooding the roadway. In the bottom photo, Route 895 in East Penn Township was closed to traffic after waters of the Lizard Creek covered the roadway overnight. One motorist had to be rescued when the car he was operating became disabled in the waters.
