Serving the community has been a life-long mission of Lion Adele Argot of McMichaels. At the Sunday Lions Cabinet meeting Argot was recognized for her leadership in Lions and service to others by being presented with the second highest honor bestowed by a Lions International President.
Presenting the International President's Leadership Award to Western Pocono Lion/Lioness Adele for Past International President Eberhard Wirfs were Lion Past International Director Robert Miller and Immediate Past District Governor Robert Neumoyer.
Argot, who works for Penn State Cooperative Extension, in the capacity of helping those with children and who struggle financially to provide wholesome meals, also serves as a correspondent for the Times News. For the Lions District 14-U she serves as a member of the Peace Poster Committee and as a co-chair of the Lions project of "Feeding the Hungry." Lions regularly collect funds and food to be distributed through area food pantries.
Ironically, one of the busiest food pantries of the area which will be receiving special funds in Argot's region is the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network. Argot was the original volunteer coordinator of that organization. With today's economy being what it is, that organization and others of Pike, Monroe, Carbon and Schuylkill will be receiving extra support through the efforts of local Lions. Lion Argot lives the Lions motto of "We Serve."
