Motorcycled injured after striking deer

A West Penn Township motorcyclist was injured Wednesday evening when he struck a deer while traveling along SR895. Township police officer Jason Lorah reported that Michael Tracy was traveling west near the intersection with Troxell Valley Road with another biker when the deer ran out onto the roadway. His companion missed the deer but Tracy struck the animal laying the bike down sliding along the roadway 139 feet. Tracy and his bike came to rest along the westbound lane. The victim was treated at the scene by members of the Mahoning Valley ambulance and Lehighton paramedics then flown via PennStar helicopter to St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill.
