Ukrainian history and culture will be featured this weekend at the Ukrainian Homestead, 1230 Beaver Run Drive, Lehighton. Chrystyna Prokopovych, director of Ukrainian Heritage Studies programs at Manor College, will present a workshop in the traditional art of gerdany (beadwork) from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6. The workshop will focus on the creation of a traditional Ukrainian Christmas ornament. At 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, the Homestead will host the Pennsylvania Humanities Council Commonwealth speaker Dr. Paula Holoviak, who will lecture on the history of Ukrainian Immigration to the anthracite coal regions, followed by a performance of the KAZKA Ukrainian Folk Ensemble. Ethnic food and crafts will be available at 1 p.m. Admission to the lecture and performance is free.
