More rides, proven entertainment, and finger-licking good food are often the hallmark of a successful carnival.

The fifth annual event will be held Thursday through Saturday in the Palmerton Borough Park. The carnival is open from 6-10 p.m. Thursday, 6-11 p.m. Friday, and 4-11 p.m. Saturday.

Thursday is Kids Night, where there will be a pay one price ride special from 6-9:30 p.m. On Friday, entertainment will be provided by Shake Rattle & Soul from 6:30-9:30, while the Shakey Ground Band will play from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday.

With plenty of food, games, crafts, a Chinese auction and four extra rides, this year's carnival promises to have a little something for everyone, said Christina Obrecht, president of Crusaders For A Cause.

"We have a variety of activities, and anything that you want to do," Obrecht said.

Obrecht said the goal of the carnival is to raise between $5,000 to $6,000, a good portion of which will go to Relay For Life of Palmerton and Surrounding Areas.

Crusaders For A Cause was incorporated in May, 2009, under the Non-Profit Corporation Law of 1988 as amended, to help raise money for various charities.

Those charities include Relay For Life/American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, March of Dimes, and many other community causes or projects.
