Parkside students collect food

Parkside Education Center first grade pupils (l-r) Karyn Thomas, Brody Muniz, Gabriel Croll, Michael Noyola and Emily Fisher display some of the items they collected through a food drive for Cpl. Jacob Burgess, who is currently stationed in South Afghanistan. Pictured with the students (back row) is Brittany Burgess, the wife of Jacob, and sister of Michael Noyloa (front row, second from right). All the first grade classes collected items during the last two weeks of April, in addition to writing letters and drawing pictures to send to the troops. Some of the items they collected include lip balm, toothpaste, toothbrushes, toilet paper, sunscreen, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, hand lotion, gum, hard candy, beef jerky, granola bars, and word search books. The items will be sent to Cpl. Burgess in Afghanistan to share with the other Marines in his Sniper Platoon.
