Blue Mountain Health System will co-sponsor two AARP Driver Safety Renewal Courses: Wednesday, June 2, at the Blue Mountain Health System Community Service Center, 217 Franklin Avenue in Palmerton and Wednesday June 9, in the ground floor community room at Blue Mountain Health System's Gnaden Huetten Campus, at 211 N. 12 St., Lehighton. Both classes will be from noon to 4 p.m.

The course is designed for drivers 50 years of age or older and is classroom instruction only. It is open to drivers who have previously taken the AARP or AAA driver safety course. A completion certificate from a previously taken driver safety course or proof of completion on your insurance policy must be provided for admission to class. Drivers completing the AARP Driver Safety Renewal Course will receive a certificate which entitles them to a rate reduction on auto insurance. People who are interested in taking the course should check with their auto insurance company as to the discount percentage and to verify that your insurance company accepts the "renewal" course because not all companies recognize it for insurance discounts. The usual discount is five percent, and the certificate is valid for three years. AARP membership is not required.

Class size is limited and pre-registration and prepayment are required. AARP members pay $12 and you must provide proof of AARP membership on the day of class. Non-members pay $14.
