Seventeen of Carbon County's 23 municipalities have Democratic voter registration advantages, according to the latest certified voting totals in the county's elections bureau.

Overall, the Democrats have a 5,381-voter edge over the Republicans, including an advantage of 1,029 voters in Jim Thorpe Borough.

Other Democratic strongholds are in Summit Hill, 770 advantage; Nesquehoning, 670; Penn Forest Township, 575; Lansford, 574; Palmerton, 545; and Lehighton, 512.

Meanwhile, the GOP has voter registration leads in just Franklin, Kidder, Lehigh, Packer and Towamensing townships and Weatherly Borough. The largest advantage the party has is in Packer Township, where Republicans outnumber Democrats by 135 voters.
