Cleanup continues of a major train derailment in Weissport which occurred on Saturday. Eighteen cars of a 44-car freight train of the Central Railroad of New Jersey jumped the tracks in Weissport, beneath the Route 209 bridge, causing a massive pileup of cars and cargo. The jumbled of wreckage spilled of the banks of the right-of-way, blocking the tow path of the Lehigh Canal, and knocking over a utility pole. One box car smashed into a concrete bridge pier and other cars piled up behind it.
