Tamaqua Area High School Drama Club presents 'Willy Wonka'

Tamaqua Area High School's Drama Club presents its spring musical, "Willy Wonka."

Roald Dahl's "Willy Wonka" is a musical of the candy man made famous by the story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.The show is full of old favorites "The Candy Man Can," "Oompa Loompas," "Pure Imagination," and "I Want it Now."The musical is rounded out by offering a solo song to each of the featured ticket winners.Willy Wonka (Ryan Miorelli) is ready for retirement and since he has no children of his own he opens his factory to five lucky golden ticket winners.Violet Beauregarde (Emily Zancofsky), Mike Teevee (Steven Moyer), Augustus Gloop (Julian Gerace), Veruca Salt (Erin Raymond) and the star Charlie Bucket (Nicolai Kabana) are all escorted by one adult guest of their choice.Mr. Salt (Ryan Holley), Mrs. Beauregarde (Mallory Loughman), Ms. Teevee (Janan Schafer), Mrs. Gloop (Brittany Sheidy), and Grandpa Joe Bucket (Drew Bonner) escort the youngsters on a journey into a world of candy and pure imagination.Magically, their lives change and with the help of more then 15 Oompa-Loompas, the youngsters are able to share positive messages of growing up.The cast of 30 TAHS students will take to the stage under the direction of Jonathan M. Rodgers on Friday, March 19 at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, March 20 at 2 and 7 p.m.For more information, contact Rodgers at
