A driver was charged after a one-vehicle crash in Monroe County.

State police at Fern Ridge said Scott R. Gearhart Jr., 22, of Gilbert, was driving a 1997 Ford F150 pickup truck northbound on SR209 in Chestnuthill Township, about 7:06 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, when he failed to negotiate a curve because he became distracted when he reached for his spit cup. The truck went onto the bem and into a ditch. Gearhart attempted to correct the problem and swerved back onto the road but lost control. The truck rolled over several times crossing the road and coming to rest on the opposite side.Gearhart was injured. He was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance. He was not wearing a seat belt, troopers noted.Gearhart was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
