The Christmas engagement of Dana M. Rowe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel J. Rowe of Shamokin, to Jarett J. Sweeney, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Brian Sweeney of Nesquehoning, has been announced by her parents.

The bride-to-be is a 2004 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School, and a 2008 graduate of Misericordia University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education, special education and early childhood education.She is currently attending Bloomsburg University, working toward a master's degree in education, specializing in school counseling. She is employed by Shamokin Area School District as an elementary special education teacher.She is the granddaughter of the late David and Arabella McCormick of Shamokin, and the late Joseph and Anna Rowe, also of Shamokin.The prospective bridegroom is a 2001 graduate of Carbon Career and Technical Institute, where he received training in HVAC.He is employed at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Pottsville.He is the grandson of Jacob and Evelyn Anderson of Beaver Meadows and the late James and Mary Sweeney of Nesquehoning.The couple is planning an October 2010 wedding.
