A Lansford man, already facing charges that he raped a 10-year-old girl, was arraigned this week on charges that he also raped a 15-year-old girl and improperly touched another 7 or 8-year-old child.

Jeffrey David Cope, 22, of Lansford, was arraigned on the new charges before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek of Lansford. The judge ordered Cope held on $100,000 straight bail in both cases.

Cope already had been incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility on the previous charges.

In the case involving the 7 or 8-year-old, Cope is being charged with four counts of indecent assault. The charges stems from incidents from July 2007 through May 2009.

Regarding the 15-year-old, he is charged with rape, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, three counts of aggravated indecent assault, three counts of indecent assault, indecent exposure, and corruption of minors. These charges also emerge from the time frame of July 2007 through May 2009.

Previously, he was charged on Feb. 1 with two counts of rape, one count of rape of a child, two counts of statutory sexual assault, four counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, one count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, sexual assault, three counts of aggravated indecent assault, four counts of indecent assault, indecent exposure, and corruption of minors.

These allegations allegedly occurred from July 2007 through May 2009.

On Feb. 8, he was charged with criminal conspiracy and harassment for allegedly calling the cell phone of a witness involved in the case and "leaving nasty messages."

The arresting officer for all the charges is Patrolman Timothy Wuttke of the Nesquehoning Police Department.

The affidavits filed by Wuttke describe the alleged details of the case, including that the 15-year-old told police regarding Cope that she "kicked him and hit him."

It is alleged in the affidavit that Cope, regarding the teen, "threatened her with bodily harm if she did not have sex with him and told her that if he could not get at her to hurt her, he would have one of his friends do it."
