Walnutport should soon learn how much it will cost to build a new pavilion at its borough park.

The borough will accept bids for the structure until 2 p.m. July 6. All bids must be labeled "Pavilion Construction".

Prime construction contracts for general construction, plumbing construction and electrical construction will be received.

The pavilion is a component of the second phase of the Walnutport Playground Improvements project, which also includes the band shell, as well as grading around those two areas.

As part of that phase, the current pavilion and bandshell will be demolished, and a new pavilion and bandshell will be built and adjoined to the multipurpose building. Also, a walking path will be extended.

The borough will use a portion of the $337,000 in fees collected from the Mount Airy Casino Resort in Monroe County it received last year to pay for the pavilion.

The borough was among several local municipalities to benefit from a provision in state law that required Monroe to give half of its host fee to adjoining counties, or those municipalities there within.

The borough will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. July 12 to review and accept the bid for the renovations at 215 Lincoln Avenue, and to conduct any other business.
