Summit Nursing Home holds summer picnic

The air outside The Summit Nursing Home at Blue Mountain Health System was filled with the smells of summer as residents and their family members enjoyed a family picnic.

During the annual event on Tuesday, residents and their guests were treated to picnic-style meals made by the hospital's catering staff. The dinner included sloppy joes, chicken wrapped in bacon on a stick, pasta salad, baked beans, cheese puffs, and ice cream waffle sandwiches.Mary Dennis, activities coordinator at the facility, said the group organizes the event to allow the residents to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather with their family."We like to give the residents the opportunity to enjoy a picnic with their family members," Dennis said, adding that about 70 percent of the residents' had family members attend this year's picnic.Following the meal, everyone was treated to entertainment by Danny Farole, a local musician.This is the 15th year The Summit Nursing Home has held the family picnic.
