The Tamaqua Senior Citizens group met last week with 76 members in attendance. President Jean Machamer conducted the business session and provided readings.
Eleanor Roberts offered the invocation, entitled "What Makes A Dad." Secretary Eleanor Schmerfeld provided her weekly report.
The next meeting will be held June 24, at 1 p.m., at the Tamaqua Community Center, located to the rear of Boyer's Food Mart.
Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.
The Rev. James Cavellero will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. service in First United Methodist Church this Sunday.
The Quilters continue to meet every Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
The Second Annual Summer Film Festival at First UM will begin June 27 with a presentation of the "Bells of St. Mary's." A total of four films will be presented: "Amazing Grace" on July 25; "The Ultimate Gift" on Aug. 22; and "Because of Winn Dixie" on Sept. 12. First Steps, a support group for mothers with young children, meets the first Tuesday of every month, at 6 p.m., at Primitive Methodist Church.

The Rev. Brian Reading will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Nursery care is available. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.
In lieu of evening prayer services, members will be attending the Auburn Camp Meeting on Sunday, at 6 p.m., and Wednesday at 7 p.m. The camp meetings are being held at 627 S. Third St., Auburn.
Tamaqua native Steve Kropp will present a concert on June 26 at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle.
