Coaldale couple wed 50 years

Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Plocinik Sr. of Coaldale will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, June 18. They were married in St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Coaldale, on June 18, 1960 by the late Rev. Joseph Gasho.

Mr. Plocinik is the son of the late Henry and Stella (Meravage) Plocinik of Coaldale. He served as mayor of Coaldale for eight years. He also retired from Pasco Panther Creek Mining Corp. in Nesquehoning, where he worked as a supervisor.Mrs. Plocinik is the former Bernadine Janicek, daughter of the late Valentine and Rozalia (Kanecny) Janicek of Coaldale. She worked as an R.N. supervisor at Gnaden Huetten Convalescent Center until her early retirement in 2000.The couple has four sons: Ronald Jr., husband of Catherine (Joseph) of Lehighton; Anthony, husband of Ann Therese (Kupec) of Beltzville; Richard, husband of Michelle (Pavlik) of Beltzville; and Warrant Officer III Paul, husband of Karen (Troxell) of Alabama.They also have 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. They include Joshua, Justin, Jacob, Jennifer, Anthony, Ashley, Amanda, Kimberly, Elissa, Heather, Jessica, and Zackary; and Marley Rose, daughter of Gary and Kimberly Arendt of Palmerton.The Plociniks have been fortunate to have their marriage vows renewed on a trip to Isreal at the site of the Miracle at the Wedding Feast of Cana by the Rev. Thomas Derzak, and again on their 40th anniversary in 2000 at St. Cyril and Methodius Church by the Rev. Francis Baransky.The couple enjoys spending time with their grandchildren and all their activities. Over the past years they have also enjoyed traveling to several countries in Europe and the Caribbean.For their 50th anniversary, they are planning a trip to Aruba, which is their favorite vacation spot.Their children hosted a party in their honor, attended by family and friends.
