It was almost like a case of the good, the bad and the ugly last night at Christman Field.

For McAdoo/Weatherly, those were the steps its Keystone Babe Ruth League contest took in the first three innings of play against the Franklin Township Red Sox.For the Red Sox however, it ended up taking a bit of a different path. Okay, maybe the complete opposite.It was ugly at first. Then it calmedd own a bit after two innings. Then a 10-run third inning helped the Red Sox (1-2-1) walk off with their first win of the season thanks to last a two-and-a-half hour marathon for a 14-9 victory.It wasn't the prettiest win in the world however, but Franklin Township manager Spike Long will gladly take it regardless."It was a much needed first win of the season," said Red Sox manager Spike Long. "I told the guys before the game, 'We would like to get one in the win column.' So, I told them to stay within their game and play their hardest and things would work for us."And it did.Regardless of falling behind 5-0, he hosts soon turned the tables.The Nationals (3-3-1) scored one in the first on a Joey Kotana RBI-single, and then four in the second capitalizing on three walks and an error mixed with one hit.After the Nationals made it a 6-2 game on a Drew Sherkness solo homer in the third, the Red Sox were the ones capitalizing on the visitors' miscues.While Sherkness was throwing bullets across the plate, the Nationals were missing the presence of its experienced catcher in Brandon Barnes. So, McAdoo/Weatherly was forced to go with some inexperienced players - three of them - behind the plate.With that inexperience, Sherkness watched some of his pitches quickly turn into passed balls and the Red Sox jumped on them like flies. It didn't help matters though as Sherkness lost his usual control and surrendered five walks earlier in the inning that quickly turned from a potential win into an instant loss for the McAdoo/Weatherly pitcher.In addition to that, the Nationals committed three errors, allowed five passed balls, which turned into five runs.After Matt Schaeffer was the lone Red Sox to get a hit off Sherkness in the first two innings, Anthony Farole, Josh Kern and Alex Storm all zoned in on a few of his offerings to record RBI singles, which quickly turned a four-run deficit into a six-run lead."We were doing good and then it just turned sour," stressed McAdoo/Weatherly manager John Barna about an inning that lasted at least 45-minutes alone. "Unfortunately, we had a lot of guys out of position here tonight, we had guys who were hurt and three of our guys are away. Then we switched some of the guys in there and they couldn't field a couple of the balls. I guess that's the way it goes sometimes."McAdoo/Weatherly managed to score two runs in the fourth on some passed balls itself, but that's as close (12-8) as the Nationals would get.
