A Tamaqua man will face trial in Schuylkill County court on felony charges related to the alleged theft of his brother's property, following his preliminary hearing on June 2. The hearing was held before District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua.

Clyde C. Bachert, 51, of 300 E. Broad St., was charged with felony counts of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and burglary. A misdemeanor count of tampering with evidence was dismissed. The charges were filed by West Penn Township Police Chief Brian Johnson following the March 16 theft of property owned by Wayne Bachert of Hazleton.

Other cases scheduled to be heard before Bayer included:

Joseph A. Cheehan, 41, of 322 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill, will face trial on charges of simple assault, harassment, careless driving, reckless driving, accidents involving an unattended vehicle, failure to stop and give aid, failure to notify police, driving under the influence (DUI), possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges stem from a March 20 incident and were filed by Coaldale Patrolman Charles Blesse.

Cheehan was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
