Sun worshippers and pool fans packed Baer Memorial Pool on Saturday, for the 2010 grand opening of the facility.
The weather was warm, the water was warm and there was a special reason everyone gathered at 3 p.m. poolside: Admission was free!
Mark Hoffman, chairman of Lehighton Pool Pals, gathered everyone around him as he officially named and dedicated the new 32-foot by 18-foot pavilion to the Behler family, owners of Blue Ridge Pressure Casting of Lehighton.
Hoffman said that the Behler family was instrumental in getting the pool open. When Pool Pals was faced with the insurmountable task of raising money, they offered both moral and financial support.
"Without Blue Ridge, we might not have had the motivation to move forward," said Hoffman.
