It seems to me that almost always any project that involves public monies ends up with either cost overruns, shoddy work or both.
Recently the problems with the Summit Hill Fire Station, in the past the Lehighton High School, the High School Track are just a few examples. Why is Summit Hill taking bids to fix the air conditioning problems? Is the contractor not responsible to fix the problems?
When it comes to spending public money it seems that anything goes, cost is no concern. I strongly believe that if any of these projects were undertaken by a private company the cost (over charging), problems, delays, etc., would not be occuring. Where is the oversight?
