DUI task force release stats

The North Central Pa. Regional Sobriety Checkpoint DUI Taskforce and Expanded DUI/Underage Drinking Enforcement Program has released the following statistics from a recent Sobriety Checkpoint held in Schuylkill County.

The check point was set up July 23 in Saint Clair and was a joint operation with local police and pennsylvania State Police Troopers. Officers contacted a total of 951 vehicles. Of the 57 motorists detained, 9 operators were tested, with 6 adults and one juvenile arrested, for driving under the influence of alcohol. One person was cited for underage drinking. Officers also issued 26 traffic citations, made 6 criminal arrests and issued 30 warnings. Eight county law enforcement agencies were represented by 18 officers.Sobriety checkpoints and Roving DUI patrols will also be conducted through July 31 on state routes 61, 183, 901, 209, 309, 443, 895, 125, 25, 924 and 54.Travelers are reminded to dial 911 if they suspect a drunk driver.To report underage drinking, call 1-888-UNDER21.The sobriety checkpoints and Roving DUI patrols are funded through the state Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
