The Franklin Township Fire Company is seeking donations for its fourth annual Giant Yard Sale, to be held from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 13, and from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14.

These days when people may not have the extra cash to donate, they may have used items cluttering their homes, which can turn into cash for the fire company. Normal yard sale items, which are gently used, but not junk, are being requested. Fire company officials believe this is an easy way for the community to give back for the service the fire company provides.

Drop off dates and times for donations are 6-8 p.m. Aug. 2, 3, 9 and 10. During these times there will be volunteers at the fire company to help collect donations. Also needed are used grocery bags to package sold items during the event.

Last year's event was a huge success, raising more than $5,000 for a new truck, a 2008 KME Rescue-Pumper, which has already proven its worth to the community. At over $400,000 the truck will take many years to pay off, so the fire company appreciates the community's support in this endeavor.
