A blood drive scheduled for Saturday in Franklin Township in honor of 15-year-old cancer victim Dylan Krum will be held even though Krum died last week.

The blood drive will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in North Weissport.

It is being conducted by the Miller-Keystone Blood Center.

Krum was striken with lymphoma and died just a few months after the illness was diagnosed.

Family members said, "We need to let people know that this is still going to be held. It will now be in honor of Dylan."

A statement from the Krum's family said, "We need to stress how important it is to keep a blood supply in the blood banks. After seeing how much blood and blood products Dylan received, we realize how great the need is."

It was noted that it only takes an hour to give blood and help cancer patients, premature babies, heart surgery patients, accident victims, burn victims, dialysis patients and many more. Remember to eat a full meal and drink plenty of fluids (caffeine free) prior to donating.
