Members from local Tamaqua organizations came together over the past week to revitalize the Tamaqua Train Station grounds and parking lot.

First the Tamaqua Borough had a couple of teens perform community service at the lot by picking up garbage. Then members of the Tamaqua Volunteers community initiative group spent time weed whacking and hedge trimming around the Train Station grounds and parking lot. Next volunteer members from the Tamaqua Beautification Association spent some time cleaning and pulling weeds at the lot.Members of the Tamaqua Leo Club and Tamaqua Volunteers group came together to pick up trash, pull weeds, cut grass, and lay all new red mulch around the Train Station parking lot. The Tamaqua Volunteers group donated the new mulch as well as other supplies and food.John Hadesty, owner of Stone Gardens in Tamaqua, donated a new wheelbarrow to the Tamaqua Volunteers group during the revitalization. The combined organization project was rushed to ensure a better Wednesday venue for the arrival of meteorologist Joe Snedeker of WNEP16-TV as part of his Go Joe XIII Charity Bike Ride to benefit the St. Joseph's Center in Dunmore.Tamaqua Beatification Association President and Tamaqua Borough Manager Kevin Steigerwalt pointed out all the results of all the volunteers that put their time into this project. The Tamaqua Leo Club adopted the parking lot and is always looking for new members or volunteers.
