Schuylkill gun incident arrest

A Schuylkill County man was jailed this week following a gun pointing incident.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Andrei Walsh, 22, of Orwigsburg, was arrested following an incident that occurred about 4 a.m. on Monday, July 5, at 1912 Fair Rd., in Wayne Township. Troopers said Walsh had a prohibited offensive weapon (sawed-off shotgun) with an obliterated manufacturer's number and aimed it at a 25-year-old Schuylkill Haven female and in the direction of her residence after having a fight with her father.He was charged with simple assault, possession of a firearm with an altered manufacturer's number and other counts. He was arraigned before duty District Judge James Rielly, of Pottsville, and committed to the county prison in lieu of $50,000 percentage bail.Troopers also reported the arrest of James H. Smith, of Pottsville, for harassment. Troopers said Smith allegedly constantly called Katherine Smith, of 121 Caroline Ave., East Norwegian Township, Pottsville, on her cell phone since early June after being told to stop. The incident began June 2 and continued to July 2, troopers said.
