Writers' group

The Black Diamond Writers' Network will meet July 17, from 10 a.m.- noon, at the Tamaqua Public Library, 30 S. Railroad St. Guest speaker will be Anne Supsic, a professional travel writer and world traveler. She will offer tips on finding story ideas, formatting articles and finding a publisher.

The spotlight speaker for this month will be Patricia Shenyo of Drums.

The public is welcome to attend.

The BDWN is a nonprofit organization offering writing education and networking opportunities. The group meets the third Saturday of every month.

SS. Peter and Paul

The Holy Name Society of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church will meet this Thursday, 8 p.m., in the church social hall. The meeting will be preceded by a Mass, which will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Comedy night

Comedian David Kotansky of Diamond Dave Productions will appear at the Tamaqua Subway, 36 W. Broad St., on July 10, in a performance to benefit the Hillside SPCA. The night of standup comedy will begin at 7 p.m.
