It's quiet now at Pennsylvania Power & Light Company's Hauto Steam Electric Station near Hometown. As of today, the generating units of the Hauto power plant, totaling 78,000 kilowatts, were stilled, terminating 56 years of electric power generation at the site. "It was an old an inefficient plant," said John Chaplinsky, PP&L's Community Service Manager-Northeast Division. "Like an old car, it had become costly to operate."
